Shed Blood - Saani Kaayidham(Movie Review)

Image
This might be one of the cruellest violent Tamil Movies. Starting with a black and white shot, the director enters into the movie's revenge mood. It does feel like a Tarantino movie at times, also. The story is pretty straightforward, but the non-linear approach to the narration adds value to the film. Talking about performances, Keerthi Suresh is outstanding as ponni. Selvaraghavan is equally good. Then bloodshed, that's never-ending. The director ensures that the actions of "villains justify this level of violence for revenge". The film does drag in between, especially with the lack of BGM in places. If you are a fan of bloodshed and brutal killings, Saani Kaayitham is a must-watch. Rating 3.8/5

See Through - See Season 2(Series Review)

Image
I thoroughly enjoyed season 1; it had this unseen gripping raw feel to it. When it comes to season 2, things are even more significant. Baba Voss encounters numerous instances, particularly peeking into his old life. Bautista vs Jason Momoa sequence was an absolute treat in the second season. When the first season showed that vision is not welcomed in this era, we find vision returning through small crevices and holes throughout. Maybe that's where the whole thing ends. Queen Sibeth is the most devilish female character I might have seen on screen. War sequences are taken elaborately and make sense. There is some confusion behind logic in places, and some scenes are pretty cliche. Apart from that, season 2 has left so much for the audience to anticipate for the next release. Rating 3.5/5

The Beautiful CODA - CODA(Movie Review)

Image
If you have read the plot of this movie before watching it and you think you know what this film will be all about, you ARE WRONG! No wonder why CODA was selected as the best movie by the Academy. Writer/Director Sian Heder has shown the world of deaf people not to sympathize with them but to rejoice. Their shortcomings have not affected their soul or determination to work. The movie reminds us that it is not them that have to adjust but we(normal people) who should welcome them rather than empathize with their difficulties. Acting is supreme by all the four main actors. Background music and cinematography are simple and never take us away from the movie. It is a must watch and it will fill your heart. Rating: 4.4/5

The Deccan Blossoms - Raya: Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara(Book Review)

Image
Author Srinivas Reddy captures the prolific life of King Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara briefly but without dropping anything that astonishing. he covers the life of this 16th Century King who rules the majority of Deccan. The present-day Hampi and associated regions which was once a prosperous kingdom under Krishnaraya come to life in this biographical piece. Srinivas Reddy easily brings the kingdom into our imagination with grace and details. He clears the myopia of religion, caste and all underlying problems that are faced by the country now were not a problem back then. The association of Muslim rulers of Deccan with Hindu king Raya to defeat Adil Shah is an example of that. The narrative is filled with such details that will enlighten anyone reading it, opening eyes to the 16tyh century Deccan. Worth a read. Rating: 4/5

Once upon a time, there lived a GHOST - Vikram(Movie Review)

Image
How many departments does a movie have? How do you excel in all? Watch Vikram and you have the answer. This is the result you get when enough trust and commitment are given to your writer/director. An absolute Lokesh masterclass. Where do I even begin...? The story is a part of a bigger narrative written splendidly. The phases where they integrate past scenes and sequences are perfect. Action sequences are a class apart. Anirudh has again proved why he is the most wanted music director in South India.  Girish Gangadharan , the cinematographer is the new force to be reckoned with. Talking about acting, Fahadh Fasil is absolutely insane so is Vijay Sethupathi. What Fahadh has proved is that Malayalam actors are not called for mere promotion tactics but for genuine performance roles and Fahadh cannot be more perfect than this. Then Kamal sir, proved that I need not think again when someone asks me, who is your favourite Tamil Actor. Ulaganayagan Indeed. Piece of advice, watch it in thea
